Social Activities

Each evening at Uluwatu Surf & Yoga Retreats, guests come together for dinner and a social activity to round off the day.

These evenings are where most of the friendships of the week form, alongside a chance to get a feel for the local culture beyond the retreat itself.

The weekly schedule includes the Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple, live music at The Cashew Tree, a BBQ at the camp, and sunset views with a drink in hand.

Our weekly evening schedule

Monday – Ecology night

Nature walk from the surf camp to an ecology resort for a sunset cocktail and panoramic view from Padang Padang to Dreamland.

Tuesday – Cultural night

Kecak Fire Dance at Uluwatu Temple, a guest favourite and well worth the visit.

Wednesday – Sunset at Bingin Beach

Sunset at Bingin, watching the surfers from a cliffside warung with a cold drink or a coconut. There is a fish BBQ if you stay for dinner, or plenty of other dining options on the cliff top if you would rather not eat with sand on your feet.

Thursday – Live music and DJs

Live music and our resident DJ, Dex Scott, at The Cashew Tree, with line-caught fresh fish on the menu. Usually the busiest night of the week. The frozen margaritas are strong, so an early night is worth considering with surfing the next morning.

Friday – La Terazza

Italian food and sunset views at La Terazza on the Uluwatu cliffside, with live music and a sea breeze. The dragon fruit colada is worth trying, and there is usually a good view of the surf from your table.

Saturday – Surf camp social night

We alternate weekly between wood-fired pizza and a fish and chicken BBQ, prepared by our kitchen team. It is the one night the whole camp eats together.

Sunday – Single fin

Sunset coconuts and a DJ at Single Fin, one of the busiest sunset spots on the Bukit. Good music, a good view of the surf, and it does get crowded.

Meet your host

Zara

Zara has a love of travelling, nature and meeting new people, and has settled in Bali, where she is now learning to surf alongside camp guests.

Evening events were interesting and organized by Zara who took care of us and made sure we all feel great. During my stay in this camp I never felt alone because the staff is so nice, always smiling and the people in the camp were amazing. But I must say that camp would never be the same without Zara who made all guests feel welcomed.

Tina

Thank you to Zara for showing me the best week in Uluwatu and for always being so accommodating, friendly, welcoming, and such a pleasure to be around! I have never felt so taken care of- from the fresh, home-cooked meals, and friendly faces of the staff, I hope to return to Padang Padang Surf Camp time and time again!

Brittany

Zara, one of the staff on site, made sure that we got to know different facets of the island, the most beautiful beaches at sunset, the best bars and cultural adventures such as the Kecak dance in the Uluwatu temple. Not only did we feel well looked after in terms of organisation, Zara made the camp shine with her engaging warmth.
