Ice Bath and sauna at Padang Padang Surf Camp

Training & Recovery Facilities

Conditioning and recovery are built into the surf programme. The training facilities are here to complement your time in the water — building the paddle strength, core stability, and mobility that surfing asks of you, and helping you recover properly between sessions so you are ready for the next paddle out.

New: Contrast Therapy Sauna and Ice Bath

Our newly built on-site sauna and ice bath are set up for contrast therapy — alternating heat and cold. It is a method a lot of surfers and athletes use to ease soreness and feel fresher between hard sessions. Read our guide to how contrast therapy fits into recovery, and the team will show you how to use them sensibly across the week.

The outdoor calisthenics gym is there for conditioning between surfs. For surf-specific work on land, the custom surf skate bowl and pump track let you break a manoeuvre down and repeat it — stance, compression, and the body movement behind bottom turns and cutbacks, drilled on solid ground until it carries into the water.

Refresh and Recharge

The pool sits at the centre of the property and is where people tend to gather to decompress after a session. An open-air gazebo alongside it gives you a quiet spot to read or stretch, and the sun loungers are there for whether you want shade to cool down or afternoon sun.

After a day on the reefs of the Bukit, it is a straightforward place to let your body recover.

Technical Surf Skate Training

Surf skating is one of the closest ways to rehearse the mechanics of wave riding on land. Using Carver surf skateboards in our custom surf skate bowl and pump track, you can isolate and repeat the key movements. We start with stance, compressed body position, and line basics in the covered training area, then move into the bowl to build carving time and the muscle memory behind bottom turns and cutbacks. Protective gear is available.

Indoor Training Studio

The indoor studio holds a range of mobility, strength, and conditioning gear, along with Carver surf skateboards and protective equipment for the bowl and pump track. It is enough to put together a solid strength session or a mobility routine without leaving the property.

Outdoor Calisthenics Gym

The open-air calisthenics gym is built for bodyweight strength work. It has parallel bars, adjustable gymnastic rings, and pull-up bars for compound movements that carry over to paddle power and core control, plus a punch bag for conditioning and coordination drills.

It is a focused outdoor space to work on your conditioning in the camp’s tropical grounds.

Table Tennis & Downtime

For a lighter way to unwind between training blocks, there is a full-sized table tennis table set up in the communal outdoor area.

It is meant for relaxation, though matches between guests tend to get competitive. A low-impact way to keep your eye sharp and spend time with the rest of the group after a day in the surf.
