Our retreat program in Uluwatu, Bali is based on a foundation of surfing and yoga with a range of complementary wellness and fitness activities.
We appreciate that there’s much more to yoga than the contortion of our bodies into a variety of shapes.
Yoga incorporates a range of physical and mental methods to help bring all aspects of our inner and outer world into balance — a complete regime of health and wellbeing to address our physical, mental and spiritual needs.
We, therefore, offer both relaxing and energising activities to keep all parts of us happy.
De-stress, relax and rejuvenate with yin/restorative yoga, ball therapy and guided relaxation practices. Just what’s needed after an active day at the beach!
Vinyasa flow and more energising and strengthening forms of yoga can be a great way to start the day.
Learn how pranayama/breathing exercises such as ‘breath of fire‘, ‘alternate nostril breathing‘, ‘Wim Hof‘, ‘bees breath‘, ‘breath retention‘, and simply slowing the breath down, can all be effective ways to regulate our nervous systems in beneficial ways.
Conscious breathing is often the most powerful part of any yoga practice — inducing a profound sense of serenity that builds over time and can genuinely be life-changing.
The meditation techniques taught in our retreats cultivate awareness, focussing on the present moment, which give us the tools to become better at living in the ‘now’ — a major skill to lessen our suffering and experience the joy experienced each and every day.
Meditation and breath work are both regularly included in yoga sessions.
For those who have always wanted to try surfing, Bali has very consistent surf and weather and, as Padang Padang Surf Camp opened the first surf school in the Uluwatu area, there’s simply no better place to learn.
Irrespective of whether you are a complete beginner, intermediate or advanced surfer, the instruction will be addressed to your specific ability by one of highly motivated, professional and patient instructors.
All our instructors have surfed in Bali since they were children and are qualified to Australian surfing instructor standards. They are experts on choosing the best time and location to surf, to get you the most enjoyment possible from your sessions in the water.
If you have never surfed before, the first surfing lesson will include instruction on the basic theory of surfing.
Our internationally-qualified surfing instructors will teach you the correct technique to:
- Jump up on the board
- How to select waves
- How to paddle, catch and ride waves
For those who have surfed before, your instructors will advise you how to:
- Turn the board
- Gain speed and accelerate
- Proper techniques to progress to the next level of surfing
Bali is the perfect location to learn or improve your surfing due to the high-quality and consistency of the waves and the perfect year-round water temperature.
Our photographer goes every morning to shoot the first surf session in order to provide photos for technique review sessions. These are great for showing to friends and family and to keep as a souvenir.
